Team of the Week. Guinness Pro 14 League

Four games played by the Welsh pro sides and two wins achieved by the Scarlets and the Ospreys with two narrow cruel defeats suffered by the Dragons and Cardiff Blues.

Some excellent individual performances so some selections were difficult, but here is the team of the week.

15. Matthew Morgan – Cardiff Blues. In the second half when the Cheetahs kicked the ball away a lot, Nipper was in his element. Constantly made the first tackler missed and got the Cardiff Blues on the front foot.

14. Jeff Hassler – Ospreys. Scored a length of a field effort followed by a swan dive. Constantly looking for work as always was the Canadian. A real fan favourite.

13. Ashley Beck – Ospreys. On the score sheet and showed great touches throughout the game. A class act in the centre.

12. Willis Halaholo – Cardiff Blues. Had his dancing feet on last night, scoring a great try. Sometimes he seems to be going into an area where there is no route out, but with his stepping ability and a strong handoff, he makes metres even in those situations.

11. Owen Lane – Cardiff Blues. Been excellent the second half of the season has the young back. Such a handful to bring down. Scored a try and saved another try with a fantastic tackle in the corner. Must be in the Welsh coaches thoughts for the upcoming summer tour.

10. Rhys Patchell – Scarlets. Class performance from the player this weekend. Composed in all he did.

9. Gareth Davies – Scarlets. Another interception try against a Scottish side. So deadly around the fringes.

1. Rob Evans – Scarlets. Man of the match performance from the loosehead, great to see him in such good form.

2. Ken Owens – Scarlets. Last two weeks Owens has looked right back to his very best. Outstanding again yesterday.

3. Lloyd Fairbrother – Dragons. The tighthead has played really well this season and yesterday was no exception. An eighty-minute stint from the prop, which is very rare for a prop nowadays.

4. Tadhg Beirne – Scarlets. Thirteen tackles made by the lock. Just been an unreal season form the Irishman.

5. Alun Wyn Jones – Ospreys. In fantastic form is the Welsh legend for the last number of months. Driving Ospreys on in their efforts to gain a slot for Europe.

6. Aaron Shingler – Scarlets. Another top-notch performance from the Welsh international. Been one of the players of the season.

7. Ollie Robinson – Cardiff Blues. Twenty tackles made by the back rower and a constant supporter of the ball carrier. An excellent performance.

8. Josh Navidi – Cardiff Blues. Whatever back row position you ask him to play he is one of the best players on the pitch. Turnovers, ball carries, tackling. He is playing out of his skin.

So there you have our team of the week. Agree/Disagree? Let us know.
